Itinerary

Day 1

ARRIVE AT NEW DELHI

Greetings from India! As you arrive at the airport, our experienced representative will meet you and drive you to your hotel. Enjoy a half-day city tour of both old and new Delhi after breakfast. See the Red Fort, Shah Jehan's beautiful red sandstone fortress, Jama Masjid, India's biggest mosque, and take a cycle rickshaw ride through Chandni Chowk, often known as "Silver Street," a lively bazaar with charming shops and historic gates (Closed on Sundays). Lunch at a neighbourhood eatery in the city (own your account). Following lunch, see the lovely "Humayun's Tomb," a monument from the Mughal Empire that is a testimony to love and the forerunner of the fabled Taj Mahal. After dinner, you have the evening free for yourself to stroll around Khan Market. Meal Plan: Breakfast

Day 2

NEW DELHI TO KATHGODAM AND THEN TO MUKTESHWAR

Before heading to the train station to join the train from New Delhi to Kathgodam, we start our morning early with breakfast. Upon arrival, there is a meet and greet. We then travel a short 40 kilometres to meet your B T A guiding and supporting crew. We will stop at Mid-way Restaurant on the way, for lunch. We will go over a briefing on the route and safety as well as how to install and test your bikes. We mount our bicycles and ride towards Mukteshwar (2171 meters). A gentle uphill ride leads to incredibly lovely panoramas via pine forests, and apple, peach, and apricot orchards. The 350-year-old Shiva temple at the summit of the tallest peak in the town is how the town gets its name. In particular, the Kuamon Hills and the distant Mountains make for an excellent photo opportunity at sunset and sunrise. Spend the night at Mukteshwar and have dinner. Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 3

MUKTESHWAR TO JAGESHWAR

Enjoy your morning yoga and meditation session. Following breakfast, we go on our bikes and ride to Chalnichhina (2100 meters). The majority of the trip is downhill, with a small amount of uphill at the end of the ride. A lovely journey, indeed. Initially, the route is flanked with oak, rhododendron, and pine as we pedal through a lush forest. Great vistas of the terraced paddy fields soon appear as it opens out. Witness the beautiful green farmland, the spectacular Nanda Devi in the Himalayas, and more. Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 4

JAGESHWAR TO BINSAR

We return to our bikes and pedal to the Jageshwar Temple after breakfast (1870 metres). It is a pleasant ride with lovely views of the hills and the valley across oak and deodar woodlands. One of the twelve "Jyotirlingas" is said to reside in the Hindu pilgrimage town of Jageshwar. It is one of the most significant Hindu sacred sites, and it is surrounded by a dense Deodar forest. We ride our bikes to the Chitai Gollu (Bells) Temple after seeing the Jageshwar temple. The most important shrine is the Chitai Gollu Temple, which is devoted to Gollu Devta, an Avtar (incarnation of Lord Shiva as Gaur Bhairav). It is said to grant wishes of all kinds, as long as the worshipper prays it in a morally upright manner. We explore the temple and then continue our 20-kilometre trip to Binsar (1875 meters). We'll arrive at the Binsar Bird Sanctuary in time for food, beverages, and, hopefully, a breathtaking Himalayan sunset. You may unwind in the fresh mountain air of Binsar and escape the stress of contemporary life. Every accommodation in our mountain resort boasts a panoramic view of the Himalayan peaks, including Mt. Trishul, Nanda Devi, Nanda Kot, and Panchachuli. Have dinner and spend the night at this enchanting resort. Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 5

BINSAR - HIKING DAY

Following breakfast, we begin the 5-kilometre journey to the 16th-century Shiva Temple and the hike to the 2410m Jhandhidar Ziro viewpoint. It provides one of the most impressive and extensive views of the Himalayan peaks, including Mt. Chukhamba, Nanda Devi, Nanda Kot, Panchachuli, Trishul, and Kedarkanth. Our final destination for the day's journey is Dhaulchhina, so we continue along the ridge until we reach a Shiva temple. The trail along the ridge descends through valleys with streams and thick undergrowth and weaves through a dense oak and pine forest with breathtaking views of the Himalayas and the surrounding region. We'll observe a huge variety of vegetation along the way, as well as choral, barking deer, langur monkeys, wild boar, and perhaps even a leopard. At Binsar Sanctuary, 400 different kinds of resident and migratory birds can be found. We will stop in the village of Kathdhara on our walk. Experience the rhythms of rural life the old-fashioned way in this thriving agricultural town in the foothills. This charming settlement, whose name combines the words for "wood" and "stream" (Kath and "Dhara"), is home to a large number of terraced fields. The locals are eager to show visitors their farms and let them participate in fieldwork. Also, they developed a micro-agricultural system. At the village of Kathdhara, we will have our picnic lunch or some hot, locally-produced organic cuisine. Afterwards, we walk for another hour in the direction of Dhaulchhina. Thereafter, we'll travel 30 kilometres to Almora town, where we'll visit a small bazaar, to meet our driver in a car (at the Market). The 1.5 km long Almora market features homes with wood carvings all along the walkway, with stores on the first level and residences on the bottom. Several homes have been rebuilt with concrete versions, but some stunning ancient structures still stand and showcase superb woodworking. You have an hour of free time to explore the nearby market before we return to Binsar for the night. Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 6

BINSAR TO KAUSANI

We return to our bikes after breakfast and pedal towards the Kausani (1890 meters). We'll make a pit stop along the way to see Panchachuli Women Weavers, the biggest autonomous women's cooperative in Uttarakhand, which has significantly altered the socioeconomic dynamics of the neighbourhood. In the steep area of Almora, women from over 32 villages work to process raw materials and create woven and knitted goods. After visiting the centre for women weavers, we will continue riding to Kausani. On reaching Kausani, we check into the Eco Lodge for the night. Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 7

KAUSANI TO RANIKHET

We go to the Tea Garden after breakfast and will observe the numerous employees picking tea leaves around. At this location, several varieties of tea leaves are spread out for drying and processing. We continue driving 10 kilometres to Baijnath after touring the tea plant because Baijinath Temple is renowned for its old temple at an elevation of (1126 meters). It is located near Baijinath beside the Gomti River. We drive back 20 kilometres to Kausani again for lunch after touring the temple. Following lunch, we hop on our bikes and ride 30 kilometres to Naulakot before continuing 25 kilometres by car to Ranikhet, a hill resort that served as a welcome retreat for the British during their reign as they sought refuge from the sweltering summer heat on the plains. We would have dinner and an overnight stay in Ranikhet itself (1869 meters). Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 8

RANIKHET TO KATHGODAM

Following breakfast, we begin our final day of cycling by driving 10 kilometres to the Kathgodam Train Station. We will stop on the way to have our Lunch. Then onwards, we reach Kathgodam Railway station to catch the train to New Delhi. Your dinner and evening refreshments will be served aboard the train. About the Ride

One may fall in love with Uttarakhand more readily than any other state in India. Uttarakhand is one of the most sought-after adventure destinations in the Indian Himalayas because of its peculiar terrain, which includes tall Mountains, shimmering, eye-catching meadows, intimidating glaciers, and dreamlike lakes. Garhwal and Kumaon are the two areas that make up the state. Although the cultures of Garhwal and Kumaon are different, they are united by the Himalayas. There are numerous options for travel, sightseeing, adventure, and wildlife in each of them. This state in northern India is a popular tourist destination since it is dotted with hiking and trekking routes where visitors may engage in adventurous and leisurely pursuits.

Our Bike and Hike cycling vacation in the Mountains takes place in Uttarakhand's most spectacular alpine terrain. To provide you with a Himalayan riding and hiking journey that tests your endurance and unveils some unique facets of Indian culture, where we explore both well-known hill stations and secluded villages.

The nine-day Himalayan cycling trip begins with a sightseeing tour through Delhi, the capital of India. From Muktheshwar to Ranikhet, it takes us a week to cycle. We pass through towns and discreet villages as we travel through a terrain alternating between lush slopes, barren mountains, and winding passes.

Unquestionably, a cycling trip through Mukeshwar, Jageshwar, Binsar, Kausani, and Ranikhet could prove a life-changing experience that allows you to fully appreciate the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand's stunning beauty, cultural history, and cultural legacy.

Touring with Bike and Trek Adventure:

To ensure that you experience the breathtaking scenery and top-notch facilities that each location has to offer, we have allotted adequate time for you to spend at every destination.

You can be sure that your journey with us will be an amazing one! For your safety and convenience, the majority of our tracks—about 95%—are on paved rural roads that are situated on minor slopes.

ACCOMMODATION:

There is accommodation available in all regions. The majority of resorts are eco-resorts and premium lifestyle resorts. Our value is entirely dependent on dual sharing. If a person wants a room for themselves only, we may accommodate them for an additional fee.

TERRAIN

This route provides an average daily range of 20 to 50 kilometres. Enjoying cycling through rural life and getting to know Kumaon residents is the top objective of this trip. The truck will follow and stop along the way to provide the rider with bottled water and fruit juices. A fantastic way of exchanging various journey experiences.

The bike support truck always follows the last rider. If you want to stop riding, wait by the side of the road, and a support vehicle will immediately receive you.

WEATHER

The best months to go on this bike and hike vacation in the Himalayas are March, April, October and November. While rhododendrons are in full bloom, the chilly weather in April with its breath-taking mountain scenery is a little misty. The best mountain views would be in September, October, and November when the temperature would be cooler. The typical temperature varies from 25 degrees to 2 degrees.

SUPPORT VEHICLE / TRANSPORTATION

Cost includes all forms of transportation. Our backup car is available throughout the whole bike excursion. If needed, the car can hold both you and your luggage.

FOOD

Eating locally, in our opinion, is not only a lot of fun but also one of those essential aspects of the destination experience—truly an adventure in and of itself! Hence, be adaptable and ready to savor and relish the delicious and diverse cuisine of the globe. The comprehensive itinerary includes a list of the meals that are included and overlooked. One must follow scheduling requirements when meals are included because they are typically at local neighborhood establishments.

Your trip guide will be pleased to recommend restaurants that are popular with the locals whenever meals are not part of the package.  Vegetarian cuisine options may occasionally be monotonous and limiting. Even so, it is impossible to guarantee specific meals, such as vegetarian or kid-friendly options. We will do our best to fulfil your needs. Please be sure to let your guide know if you're a vegetarian while going on guided excursions.

CLOTHING

We advise wearing solid footwear, dry-fit T-shirts or cycling jerseys, and cycling shorts. Flip-flops and loose-fitting clothing are inappropriate for a bicycling excursion. During the rainy season, you simply need to bring a rain jacket; no additional clothing is necessary.

Your security is our top concern. On the riding portion of the tour, we strongly suggest all of our participants always wear a helmet. We advise our riders to apply a nice coat of sunscreen lotion because we are specialists with sufficient expertise driving on Rajasthani roads. You can utilise buff headgear for your neck and sun sleeves for your arms to further protect yourself.

Take note:

  • India has a higher emphasis on tradition in its clothing. While visiting tiny non-urban locations, temples, mosques, or other religious sites, we advise avoiding wearing very short shorts or skirts and fitted shirts or tank tops since they may prevent you from entering.
