Itinerary

Day 1

ARRIVAL DAY

Pick up: On arrival at Delhi airport Meal plan: B Accommodation: Hotel Activity: Half day sight seeing Welcome to India! Upon your arrival at IGI airport in Delhi, our tour representative will escort you to the pre-booked hotel. After completing check-in formalities, you can rest and afternoon you will be visiting AKSHARDHAM and DILLI HAAT and walk around the neighbouring streets to be familiar with the culture of Delhi before sinking into the cosiness of your bed. Enjoy an overnight stay at the hotel in Delhi.

Day 2

DELHI SIGHT SEETING & TRANSFER TO MANALI

Transfer: New Delhi to Manali by Bus Meal Plan: B L Activity: Delhi sightseeing After breakfast ready to explore India’s power-centre for a splendid journey where you can explore Delhi’s culture, history, food, market-place and monuments. Delhi, the country’s historic as well as modern capital, has been shaped by various empires from different eras. Exploring Delhi’s iconic monuments and heritage sites, immersing in its flavourful culinary delights and diverse traditions, visiting landmark sacred sites, soaking in its history and culture and shopping at busy marketplaces — these are just some ways to experience the capital city, one of the most visited places not just in India, but the entire world! Our staff will bring you to the bus terminal in time for the evening bus to Manali.

Day 3

MANALI

Altitude: 2000 m/6,550 ft Briefing following dinner. Visit Hadimba Devi Temple and Vashist Kund. Accommodations: Hotel (twin sharing) Meal Plan: B D You will arrive in Manali today and settle into the hotel that has been reserved for you. You will be sent the information one week in advance of the arrival date. You may go in and around Manali's popular attractions. Stay on schedule as the entire team will be gathering back at the hotel at 4 p.m. Meet the other members of your team as well as your trip leader. Your trek leader will give you a briefing on your journey, and you'll need to test your gear and confirm the sizes of your climbing boots.

Day 4

Manali – Dhundi – Bakarthach (3500M)

Altitude: Dhundi - 2850 m/9350 ft; Bakarthach - 3300 m/ 10,800 ft Driving Distance (Manali to Dhundi): 21 km; Travel Time: 40 min. Trek Distance (Dhundi to Bakarthach): 4 km, approximately 3 hours. Grade: Simple hike; gentle ascent Terrain: Stroll along the Beas River. Trek through oak, walnut, and meadow-filled coniferous woods. Meal Plan: B L D Stay : In camp This thrilling adventure to Mount Friendship Peak will start with a short trek via one of Himachal Pradesh's busiest trekking trails. We will put the luggage into the cars in Manali after a late breakfast, and then we will leave for Dhundi, the beginning point of the trek. As we go off on our excursion, we will pass through the stunning Solang Valley. We will walk to Bakarthach through Palchani Tach. The route leads through oak, fir, and walnut woods to Bakar Thach's highland meadows. The terrain is moderately simple. You will be astounded to find the campground at Bakarthach encircled by magnificent peaks, glaciers, and moraines. After our evening refreshments, trekkers are free to spend the rest of the evening exploring Bakarthach. Dinner is served at the Bakerthach camps.

Day 5

Bakarthach Camp – Lady leg Base Camp

Altitude: 3,900 m/12,800 ft Trek length: 3 kilometres, around 5 hours. Grade: Moderately challenging Terrain: The walk is primarily via moraines. Lunch: At the campground Practice mountaineering skills Stay: In tents Meal Plan : B L D We will begin the journey to Lady Leg Basecamp after breakfast. The ascent will first continue on moraines, after which we will traverse a glacier field and ascend to Lady Leg. The extremely challenging Lady Leg is the steep, demanding section right before the summit camp ridge. After lunch, you'll participate in a practice session where you'll learn how to use the equipment. This will give you some practice navigating the snow glaciers that you will encounter on the adventure. You must practise using and becoming used to climbing boots, harnesses, and crampons. You will become accustomed to your tools and learn how to safely arrest your slope falls. We'll rest and enjoy the scenery after the practice session. Dinner will be served at the Lady Leg Base Camp. Stay the night in the camp.

Day 6

Summit Camp at Lady Leg Base Camp

Altitude: 4,800 m/ 15,750 ft Trek duration: 2 kilometres and 2 hours Acclimatization Day Take the ferry to Camp 1 and return to Lady Leg. Breakfast is served at Lady Leg Campground. Lunch: At Camp 1 Meal Plan: B L D Stay: In camps After a hearty breakfast, we'll set off early for the summit camp, where we'll hike for one to two hours uphill. The Summit Camp is in a lovely setting nestled between mountain ranges. Views of stunning peaks including Hanuman Tibba, Maker Beh, Shiker Beh, and the majestic mountain in the group-Friendship peak, may be enjoyed while camping at the summit. Dinner and a night's stay at the Summit Camp.

Day 7

Summit attempt

Altitude: 5,287 m/17,346 ft Trek length: 3 kilometres, around 8 hours. Level: Difficult Begin ascending at 2:00 a.m. Get to the peak by 10:00 am "Arrive at Lady Leg by 5:00" Summit to shoulder: 5 hours; shoulder to summit: 3 hours The hard climb from the peak to the shoulder Vertical zig-zag ascent with crevasses from shoulder to peak Roping-up or fixed rope is required The summit platform is not particularly large Meal Plan: B L D Stay: In camps (Lady Leg campsite) We'll begin our ascent to the top at three in the morning. We will need to trek for six hours to get to the top of Mount Friendship Peak from the summit camp. You will be climbing steeply, navigating several crevasses, and moving through glaciers. If everything goes as planned, we should be able to reach the peak by 9 a.m. You will be able to witness the breath-taking views of the nearby mountains, towns like Lahaul & Spiti, and Manali from the summit of Mt. Friendship Peak. We'll spend some time at the peak before returning for lunch to the Ledy Leg base camp. We'll hike downhill to Bakarthach camp after lunch. Spend the night in the Bakarthach camp.

Day 8

Buffer day for Summit attempt

Buffer day is an extra day that is spent at the base camp for a summit attempt in case the weather does not allow. This day is used only when the summit is not possible as per the regular itinerary. Whether to use the buffer day or not is totally team’s decision. Fortunately, if everything goes well as per the itinerary, we can plan the day for you. We can make arrangements for other activities like Rafting, Biking, Pangong Lake visit etc. If the summit cannot be attempted owing to any unforeseen reasons, a buffer day will be used. The choice of a buffer day is made by the team. It is recommended that you include a buffer day in your trip itinerary. The price of a buffer day, which costs 110 euros a day, is not covered by the plan. A surcharge will be applied for the buffer day on a per-day, per-person basis. If the expedition does not need the buffer day, use it to explore Manali.

Day 9

Return to Manali

Trek length: 7 kilometres, around 4 hours. Driving Distance: 21 km, approx. 40 min. Get to Manali by 5:00 p.m. Lunch: En route Meal Plan: B L D Stay – Hotel at Manali Follow the same route back to the city. After breakfast on the ninth day, trekkers will make their way down to Dhundi, the trailhead. You may go by vehicle to Manali from Dhundi. We'll eat lunch in Manali. Friendships made in the mountains last a lifetime.

Day 10

MANALI – NEW DELHI

In the evening, transfer to the bus station to catch the Manali-Delhi bus. It is at this point that the journey comes to an end. You may explore Manali after breakfast. Be sure to visit Hadimba, Vashisht's hot water springs, and perhaps even the Naggar Roerich Art Gallery.

SINGLE ROOM AND TENT

You may reserve a single room New Delhi / Manaliduring the trip for an extra fee of Euro 120.

A single tent for every camping night is available for an extra fee of 80 euros.

THE OFFLOADING OF BAGS

  • Offloading a backpack will cost you 75 euros and will involve a porter or mule. The bag needs to be water-resistant.  The backpack can only be 11 kg in weight. Bags, suitcases, and carts are not permitted.

  • The weight restriction is 11 kg, and bags and suitcases are not permitted.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATIONS

The safety of our trekkers is our top priority in an emergency. Our Trek Leaders are skilled in dealing with medical situations, particularly those brought on by altitude. In more serious circumstances, the trekker will be taken on a stretcher as soon as possible to the closest hospital. The participant is responsible for covering any costs associated with using the medical facility. 

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this Trek suitable for me?

Only seasoned trekkers are permitted to participate in the Friendship Peak expedition. The expedition's highest elevation achieved is 17,348 feet. The trek trail is challenging to climb but offers unparalleled beauty at the same time. From the peak, one can see the Pir Panjal, Dhauldhar, and vast Himalayan ranges all at once. It is also possible to see some of the highest peaks, including Hanuman Tibba, Shitidhar, Indra Asan, and Deo Tibba. 

Experience required

Basic mountaineering training is advised, although it's not required for extremely competent and experienced trekkers. 20 to 25 days of trekking in the Himalayas, including at least a few difficult hikes would serve best. 

Fitness benchmark

Run/jog 5 km in 25–30 minutes, or walk 10 km continuously (with 3–4 short breaks) on flat ground (a slight incline is better). Additionally do 10 pushups, 15 lunges & squats, 3 sets of climbing 30 - 40 stairs in one stretch, and hold your breath for 40 seconds.

If you are not hitting these standards, please increase your level of fitness until you do.

What sort of tents and sleeping bags will be provided?

The sleeping bags we use are suited for temperatures between -15 and -20 degrees Celsius, and we use four-season tents.

Which documents are essential for the expedition?

The obligatory documents needed for this journey are an ID proof (soft copy to be provided to us in advance & original to be carried), a medical certificate (soft copy to be sent to us & original to be carried), a passport, and a visa copy.

About the Expedition

Mt. Friendship Peak is a mountain situated in the Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh, India. It is one of the most well-liked trekking peaks in the Pir Panjal range, towering at a height of 5,289 metres.

 

Mt. Friendship Peak trek begins in Solang Valley near Manali. For seasoned trekkers who wish to transition to mountaineering, it is an excellent option because it is regarded as a moderate to difficult climb.

Eligibility

  • The participant has to be in the good physical condition and possess the energy to accomplish 5 km in 30 min without feeling rushed.

  • The ascent should be possible with a 12- to 16-kg back load

  • Blood pressure reading must be between (Diastolic 75-85, Systolic 100-130 Hg)

  • Respiratory rate at rest must be in between (12 – 20 breaths per minuite)

  • Should not have liver and kidney issues

  • Should not have diabetics Mellitus, Asthma, Epilepsy, Heart problems, High BP

  • No pacemaker implant

  • Experience: Any high-altitude trek, at least one that is 5000 metres (16400 feet) in elevation.

  • Trekkers below 15 years should have a company of a parent / guardian

  • Trekkers between 15-18 years can come solo with the disclaimer form signed by parent/ Guardian
